In the medical world a lot of things are responsible for how we perceive things...i mean there are these sense organs, sensory neurons, neurons in the brain (basically ones in the frontal lobe).
There's this connection and every connection matters.
This system of connection compels us to act, choose and behave.
Then there's this thing called surroundings...one that's responsible for how we mould what we perceive and act accordingly...one that decide that we turn out to be an optimist or a pessimist!
I've always been a pessimist one and the only one (or maybe that's what i think) that has got a problem with my this attitude is my mum...I mean is it really crappy to be a pessimist?
I looked into the wikipedia and the definition that these guys have come up with is "Pessimism is a state of mind in which one anticipates undesirable outcomes or believes that the evil or hardships in life outweigh the good or luxuries."
Now that does sound like shit but seriously i believe that being a pessimist ain't that bad...atleast for my mental state (can't say about others).
Being a pessimist saves me from the disappointment that is about to come...like I was telling this friend of mine that I'm quite sure that we won't be able to see Sachin Tendulkar play. But she being an optimist was certain. But then when finally Sachin returned back to Mumbai after suffering from minor ligament tear she was the one who end up crying.
People say that it affects our working potential...it bars us from giving our 100%....but seriously pessimism has nothing to do with that.
We study, get good grades, work our asses off just to earn that six figures paying job....that has hardly anything to do with our attitude...but with our greed yes!
What i mean is it really necessary to look the glass haf full...to take a leap of faith?
Wouldn't looking at the glass half empty motivate us more to try to fill it?
Wouldn't accepting the truth better than taking a leap of faith?
Life isn't a fairytale and accepting the fact that life might not always turn out how you planned ain't that bad afterall!
Try pessimism...it might give you HOPE!
